Stockholm is one of the finalists for a C40 Cities Award – for the measures in climate adaptation and reduced emission

C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group is a network for committed cities around the world. About 75 cities are connected to the network today. The goal is to reduce the big cities’ impact on our climate through sustainable solutions in urban development, energy, transport, waste etc.

C40 Cities Awards is an annual award created to recognize successes in reducing emissions and improving sustainability, to catalyse ambition and share lessons with cities around the world. The award is granted to urban development projects that contributes to less climate impact and reduced emissions. The finalists for the award has to be innovative and use solutions that can be reused in big cities around the world.

In competition with 216 submissions from 94 cities, the development project in Stockholm Royal Seaport is one of 33 projects that have been nominated as finalists in one of the awards 10 categories. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on 3 December 2015 during UN’s conference on climate change 2015 (COP21).

Stockholm Royal Seaport is nominated in the category Sustainable Communities, along with Johannesburg (”Corridors of Freedom”) and Wuhan (”Gutian Ecological New Town in Hanjiangwan”).
